Home and DIY calculators
Work out how much material to buy before you head to the store. Each calculator shows the formula and adds sensible extra for waste.
- Concrete calculator
Cubic yards, bags and cost for slabs, footings and post holes.
- Paint calculator
Gallons or litres of paint for a room or a wall.
- Flooring calculator
Square footage, boxes and cost of flooring.
Which home and DIY calculator do you need?
Use the concrete calculator before you pour a slab, patio, footing or post hole. It gives the volume in cubic yards or metres and the number of 40, 60 or 80 lb bags, so you know whether to buy bags or order a truck.
Use the paint calculator before a trip to the paint store. Enter the room size, doors, windows and coats, and it suggests the mix of gallons and quarts that usually costs least.
Use the flooring calculator for laminate, hardwood, vinyl, tile or carpet. Add each room or area, and it works out the square footage, the extra for cuts, the number of boxes and the cost.
Good to know
- Measure twice, and round your measurements up rather than down.
- Buy all your material at once so colors and batches match.
- Check the coverage or yield printed on the product, because it varies by brand.
